American Express Cruise Privileges Program Celebrity Cruises Cruise Critic Community

american express cruise privileges program

I'm a no longer practicing, Independent "VERY SMALL" Travel Agent who "signed up" with AMEX many moons ago to offer clients CPP benefits. I've procured the $200/$300 benefit on several occasions BUT NOT the "Extra Membership Rewards® points" (I think you need your own "Merchant account" for that. Hi, I just checked and the Amex website says "To take advantage of this benefit, book through Platinum Travel services....." When I have received credit in the past on HAL, I have been in a full suite and have gotten the $300. It was also combined with my ownership of stock for a total of $400 obc which certainly comes in handy!!!

Cruises can be truly affordable vacations — but that doesn't mean you won't run up a significant bill booking your sailing or spending during your trip. It's also easy to overspend on certain travel costs because you don't know all the best money-saving tricks. As someone who cruises often, I don't have a huge budget to spend on onboard purchases for each sailing, so I've had to get wise on how to save money on a cruise. Bonuses that may be received with your Card on other purchase categories or in connection with promotions or offers from American Express cannot be combined with this benefit. Any portion of a charge that the Basic Card Member elects to cover through redemption of Membership Rewards points is not eligible to receive points. The Cruise Privileges Program offers extra perks on eligible cruises of five nights or more when booking through American Express Travel.

What credit score is needed for American Express cards?

On Ama Waterways, Oceania, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Azamara, Seabourn, Silversea, Uniworld and Windstar, you'll get a $300 onboard credit per room. And on Cunard, you'll receive an onboard credit of $300 per room if you book a Queen Mary ocean-view cabin of category EF (or higher) or a Queen Victoria or Queen Elizabeth ocean-view cabin of category FA (or higher). Your booking must be for double occupancy to benefit from the Cruise Privileges Program.

For Cruise Privileges Program bookings, you must pay with an American Express card in the Platinum or Centurion cardmember's name. You'll earn 2 Membership Rewards points per dollar when you book your cruise through American Express Travel using The Platinum Card from American Express or The Business Platinum Card from American Express. If you also have the American Express® Green Card, you might want to use it to pay for your cruise to earn 3 points per dollar on the travel purchase.

Cast off for the Caribbean, the Mediterranean or South Seas with extras from our Cruise Partners. Benefits vary by partner and cruise, and can include cabin upgrades, discounts, on board credits and amenities such as a welcome gift, complimentary meal or bottle of wine. Craft the adventure of a lifetime with American Express Travel. From safaris on the Serengeti to sailing in Santorini, savor the wonders of the world with custom itineraries and personalized service, and earn 2X Membership Rewards® points on eligible bookings.

I have also found that price drops are nonexistent (not honored) when booking thru AMEX. I thoroughly enjoy the other perks that come with being a cardholder but not for this program. However, I am glad to see that others are able to use it. Are you saying these perx are available when you pay for your cruise using the Platinum card, even if you don't book thru AmX travel services?

That being said, most / much of her business is star class and suites so she may be participating because of that. You just need to find an agency that's taken the time to sign up with AMEX to offer CPP benefits.

What will be interesting to see is if X is going to upgrade people from CC to AQ or something like that, or if CC and AQ will get the full $300 or perhaps a chunk of it. This is actually why I started this thread-- hopefully when more people learn about the program they will report back. It also advertises a lot of hotel stay perks (and sometimes they are amazing) but usually the hotel perks require paying rack rate or something close to it. The Amex cruise booking program is always worth consideration when booking eligible cruises, but today (Aug. 12) there is a new limited-time cruise offer for those with a Platinum card through Amex Travel. Many cruise lines offer discounts for booking drinks packages, Wi-Fi plans and shore excursions online in advance of your cruise.

To do so, visit Amex’s cruise booking page and find the booking you want, then log in to your American Express account when prompted. At checkout, you will have the choice to use your card, pay with points, or use a combination of the two. If you choose to pay with points, you must redeem at least 5,000. Once you select a sailing, decide which room you'd like. Cruise Privileges Program onboard credits for many cruise lines are based on the room type you book, so choose carefully if the onboard credits are important to you.

It will save you money on your next cruise if you do some pre-cruise planning instead of being spontaneous once on board. Because there were two of us, we received an Amex Platinum Promotion onboard credit of $100 each (this was in addition to the other credits we received from other promotions and benefits (which totaled US $550)). Platinum cruise benefits are exclusively available when booking through your Platinum Travel Service. All benefits are per booking, per room, and based on two people sharing accommodation (single occupancy benefits available on request). Some cruise lines have a minimum night requirement. American Express and partner Terms and Conditions apply.

The value of Membership Rewards points varies according to how you choose to use them. Holders of American Express Platinum cards have access to a little known, but potentially valuable benefit – the Cruise Privileges Program (CPP). Sail off into the sunset with our luxury cruise partners, and enjoy a range of benefits, from discounts to cabin upgrades. However, cardmembers can book up to two other rooms on the same sailing that would also get perks through the Cruise Privileges Program. Suppose you want to book a cruise and have The Platinum Card® from American Express or The Business Platinum Card® from American Express in your wallet. In that case, you should consider booking through the American Express Cruise Privileges Program.

Your cruise ship's spa or boutiques will often host seminars about wellness practices or understanding gemstones. These events are really marketing plays to get you to sign up for spa treatments or buy shoe insoles or jewelry. However, they often convince people to attend by giving away spa credit or jewelry in a raffle. If you've got nothing better to do on a sea day, you might show up in the hopes of winning something.

If you're thinking of purchasing some souvenirs, look for promotional events listed in your daily schedule. If you're looking to splurge on high-end jewelry or other expensive gifts, look for specials in those boutiques. These purchases won't be cheap, but you might be able to save a bit or get an extra bauble thrown in for free. Several major cruise lines, like Norwegian and MSC Cruises, offer select guests the option to bid for an upgraded cabin. Bid less than the difference between your cabin cost and the price of the nicer room, and if your bid is approved, you'll get upgraded onboard digs at a discount.
